Frequently asked questions
What is TradeSanAngelo?
A barter board for San Angelo entrepreneurs and small businesses. Each listing says what a business offers and what it would take in return, so you can swap services instead of paying cash.
Does it cost anything?
No. Posting a trade, browsing and sending messages are free.
How does a trade happen?
Find a listing that fits, then use the "Propose a trade" form on it. Your message is emailed to that business, and they reply to you directly. From there, the two of you work out the details.
Is my email or phone number shown on the site?
No. Your email and phone are only used to pass messages to you and to contact you about your listing. People see your business name, first name, what you offer and want, your part of town and your website if you add one.
Why are listings reviewed?
To keep the board local, real and spam-free. Every new listing is checked before it goes live, and you'll get an email when yours is up.
How do matches work?
On each listing, "Possible matches" shows businesses that offer what that business wants, or want what it offers. On the home page, fill in "I can offer" and "I'm looking for" to see matches for you.
How do I change or remove my listing?
Reply to the confirmation email you got when you posted, or email [email protected], and we'll update or take it down.
Is bartering taxable?
Generally, yes. The IRS treats the fair market value of goods and services you receive in a trade as income. See IRS Topic 420: Bartering income and check with your tax professional.
Who's responsible if a trade goes wrong?
The businesses making the trade. TradeSanAngelo only connects people and isn't a party to any agreement. It's smart to put the details in writing: what each side delivers, by when, and what happens if plans change.
Do I have to be in San Angelo?
The board is built for San Angelo and the surrounding area. Businesses from nearby towns are welcome; choose "Surrounding towns" when you post.
What can't I post?
See the listing guidelines.
